nrk.no: Problem ripping a video stream - incomplete recording (WMV, rtsp://)

Hello,

I am new to these forums but I have used several stream ripping programs before. My problem is this. I have used several programs with the same result in trying to rip this stream:

rtsp://straumOD.nrk.no/_yafestivalen/2006-08-12/_ya_l_rdag___Beck__900_178639_20060812_214000.wmv

What happens is this: The stream will get to a certain point in the download and then it will stop and the program will show that it is 100% done, even thought I know that the file should be bigger and that it is not complete.

Any suggestions as to what this might be or things I could try?

Re: Problem ripping a video stream...

that is the original link:

Code:
http://straumOD.nrk.no/_yafestivalen/2006-08-12/_ya_l_rdag___Beck__900_178639_20060812_214000.wmv
or
Code:
rtsp://straumOD.nrk.no/_yafestivalen/2006-08-12/_ya_l_rdag___Beck__900_178639_20060812_214000.wmv

Either one should work.

The ripper says: cannot find specified file when I try that URL

Also, can I ask how the different address would change things? Not saying it won't work, but just wondering how it works. What is different about that link.

Download a trial of HiDownload, it'll take care of the problem

About the address-thing, I don't know, but I always choose the mms-links and it always works.

Re: Problem ripping a video stream...

OK, so I got HiDownload and set the number of threads to 6. It downloaded the whole thing. When I played it however, there were some problems. At a certain point the video would freeze up while the audio would still play. ALSO, there was a part were I was watching the timer and when it got to 36:01 it skipped to 36:12.

I'm wondering if you think this is a problem with the file they were streaming originally, or if this came about in my attempt to rip the stream.

Also, what affect do you think using multiple threads does to the integrity of the file itself? Can it get corrupted if using multiple threads? Should I try just one even though it will take longer?

Re: Problem ripping a video stream...

1. First of all you may use any stream record supporting Windows Media streamed through the RTSP protocol (you may even try any MMS recorder, but change rtsp:// to mms:// first).

2. There could be a problem when recording with multiple threads. You may find solutions to this problem in the following FAQ
http://all-streaming-media.com/strea...h-problems.htm

3. Sometimes when you may see "Download complete" after reaching a figure smaller than 100%. That could be rather normal when a thread has multiple bit-rates and a stream recorder makes a wrong size estimate.

p.s. And do you know that you may download media stream in parts
