Re: Is necesary to open the ports with WMR11?The nice thing about WM Recorder is that it can capture packets coming to your Windows Media Player and Real Player in the PRO real time recording modes. So if you can play streams with your WMP without opening your router ports you should be able to record your streams.
WM Recorder is free to try so you don't have to buy it before checking out whether it will work for you or not. Do you have any problem with recording? Last edited by Stream Recorder : 08-27-2007 at 11:41 AM. |

Re: Is necesary to open the ports with WMR11?Thanks Stream Recorder for your explanation. The only problem that I have with WMRecorder is that it cancels the recording while it's still recording, maybe because the stream times out and starts again with another mms direction. Which mode do you prefer use for recodring a live stream? I've read that ADA is the best but if I don't have the Windows Media Player running it happens the problem explained above. Morevoer I think that in this mode if you have Windows MEdia Player and WMRecorder running at the same time the stream is downloaded two times simultaneously for each porogram. Is it true? So maybe the best mode is the PRO mode but they don't recomend it. Do you know why? I think that it makes changes in the computer....

Re: Is necesary to open the ports with WMR11?You are right about the ADA mode. If it works for you, then use it. Otherwise try the PRO mode.
In the PRO real time recording modes WM Recorder captures packets from your Windows Media Player so 1. if you close WMP you won't be able to record anything 'coz no packets will be coming to your WMP. 2. a stream is downloaded only once when the packets are captured from WMP. Re: Is necesary to open the ports with WMR11?Thanks again Stream Recorder but in the ADA mode, if you close Window Media Player, WMRecorder continues recording so I thought that each program managed their own stream. That's why I believed that in this mode the stream is downloaded twice. What do you think?

Re: Is necesary to open the ports with WMR11?Sorry Stream Recorder but check it for yourself. In the ADA Mode is not necesary that WMP continues running once WMRecorder gets the stream to record from WMP.

Re: Is necesary to open the ports with WMR11?Sorry, I was wrong. Only the PRO AUTO mode uses the connection socket used by Windows Media Player without opening another connection.
To avoid receiving duplicate streaming content in the ADA recording mode, close your WMP or just pause it. |

Re: Is necesary to open the ports with WMR11?Ok Thanks Stream Recorder, the problem closing WMP is the one explained above, if the stream changes the mms URL due a tiemout (I think), WM Recorder automaticaly cancels the recording but if WMP is running, WMRecorder gets the new stream and starts automaticaly recording from it. It's a bit annoying . So maybe the best mode is the PRO Auto but I don't know why it's not reocmended or which changes makes on the system...

Re: Is necesary to open the ports with WMR11?ADA mode is more reliable. But there are streams that you can get only in the PRO mode.
