Re: mkv to xvid convertermkv is a container, xvid is a video codec. you can't convert a container to a video codec
 you can extract audio and video tracks from mkv container whether the video uses xvid video codec or not. you can then remux video and audio into say avi or mp4. you can also recompress video using xvid or any other video codec.
