live streaming a screen capture (how to stream your desktop)

hi all..
is there anysoftware that captures a portion of the desktop, and streams it live to the web, like using mms://ip.port?
..i know that its possible using videolan!! but with vlc i cant choose a portion/window of the desktop, it ony lets me stream the whole desktop.

I haven't seen any screen video capture programs that can broadcast live video. That is what video conferencing software can do.

But you can use screen video capture programs to record videos from your screen and then use a streaming server to broadcast your recorded videos.
