Is This Legal?! PLEASE HELP?!?!

Alright, so, I'm planning on downloading a whole bunch of videos from Viacom's server. The videos are episodes of the Nickelodeon TV Show "Robot And Monster". The episodes are RTMPE encoded, I will use the program URL Snooper to find the RTMP Link for each episode video, and once I have that I know how to make it into an HTTP Link so that I can download them. The big question is, will I get in trouble for this?! I mean, the episodes are provided for free on the website, but they are copyrighted so it could be considered piracy, right? But it's not like I'm going to sell them, post them, or redistribute them in any way, they'll be totally for my own personal viewing. I am planning on downloading the episodes to my DROID 3 Cell Phone using an app called Free Video Downloader. I'm also planning on using the Opera Web Browser, and setting its proxy settings to hide my IP address, is this a good idea? Are there any other/better ways of downloading the videos to my phone and/or hiding my IP? If there are, please let me know. So anyway, do you think that downloading all these episodes will get me in trouble for piracy? What is the worst that can happen to me for doing this? Please respond as soon as possible. Also, PLEASE let me know if any of you have any tips/tricks that could help me with this. THANKS so much, guys, I really appreciate your help!

Above all, make sure you wear a tin foil hat!

Seriously, you're overly paranoid. There's a bigger chance the world will end this weekend than getting "caught" downloading some episodes of a Nickelodeon TV show.

Thank you so much for your response! I'll be sure to get out my tinfoild hat. You're right, I probably am being paranoid. This weekend, I'll do a test run: I'll download a couple episodes, see if anything strange occurs, and if not, I'll get all the rest of them next weekend! Thanks again!

I don't know about how illegal it is to download from nickelodeon or guys in prison since 2002, but I do know you might as well not bother with the proxy.

Flash server connections are direct to your computer, bypassing whatever you use in the browser. You either need something that will proxify all socket connections or just not worry about it.

Re: Is This Legal?! PLEASE HELP?!?!

@anon069 Guys in prison since 2002? What's that supposed to mean? Are you saying I can go to jail for over 10 years for this? Okay, I'm probably being paranoid again. I'm sure I have nothing to worry about. But the reason I ask is that I posted the same question on another forum, and someone replied and said that if I'm caught, I could be fined $250,000 per episode, plus possible jail time. Are they just trying to scare me? They probably are, but what do you guys think? Also, about my web proxy, I will be downloading the episodes to my smart phone over Wi-Fi. Is it as easy to trace that as it is a computer? Another thing I could do is download over the 3G network instead if Wi-Fi, so that my IP address can't be found. Would it be harder to trace me if I do it this way? Thanks for the responses, guys, you've been really helpful!
