How to hide folders in Windows by disguising them as virtual folders:- Create a new folder and make an empty space for the name. This can be done by pressing ALT + 255 or by pressing ALT + 0160 (numpad keys).
- Change the folder icon:
- Right-click on the folder and select "Properties".
- Click the "Customize" tab and click the "Change icon..." button.
- Scroll through the default window icons until you see a blank space. Select it and press the "OK" button.
- Click the "Apply" button and then the "OK" button.
That's it! Now you have a "hidden folder". It has no name, and no icon!
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
- Weak protection: If someone highlights it, it will leave a dark highlighted mark so they will probably find it. In the table view of Windows Explorer you can easily notice a folder with a weird empty name.
