Help capturing rmtp flv videos from MTV.co.uk

Hi, Although I am a newbie to these forums I found it on the internet years ago and have looked up info and it has been very helpful.

This forum lead me to download and use Orbit Downloader, which has always worked very well for me... apart from now.

I want to capture some of the MTV Spanking New Sessions (no, it's not obscene - just tehm trying to be trendy). I am interested in capturing the Duffy videos (there are 5) at this link:
Code:
http://www.mtv.co.uk/music/sessions/duffy
I'm in Firefox (the videos won't even play for me in IE which I guess is because my laptop is not exactly state of the art and vids sem to be getting more processor-intensive these days)

I open Orbit Downloader, open Grab++ like usual. I play the video and the flv shows in the Grabb++ window (eventually anyway because sometimes there's an ad first) so I opt to download it - I paste the rtmp link below for one of the vids:

Code:
rtmp://cp21595.edgefcs.net:80/ondemand|ondemand|flv:mtviestor/_!/intlod/gb/music/spanking_new_sessions/AB60940_sns_duffy_mercy_bug_OD_640|http://media.mtvnservices.com/global/apps/broadband/swf/bb_flv_player.swf|[url]http://www.mtv.co.uk/music/sessions/duffy&OBT_fname=AB60940_sns_duffy_mercy_bug_OD_640.flv
But the vid doesn't download - it has a blue double link symbol an keeps retrying before it eventually fails.

So can anyone help me get the vids please? Please make suggestions (or if you manange to do it please come to my blog and share them)

Thanks in advance.

Hi Danyelle,

I Tried the stream but got a message that i'm unable to retrieve the stream, possibly because I'm in the us?

Anyways, you should try Replay Media Catcher and WM Recorder

Good luck

WM Recorder doesn't work.

I'm trying the other one.

Thanks for your reply. If someone in the UK could give it a go I'd very much appreciate it.

I am also having trouble capturing these US radio videos:
Code:
http://www.q102.com/cc-common/ondemand/
There are 3 Duffy videos at the above link and they won't even play smoothly for me, let alone download!

Help would be very much appreciated. :-)

Re: Help Capturing Rmtp Flv Videos

OK so I downloaded and installed Replay Media Catcher.

And it seemed to work and record the video!

I got a message saying it woould only save 75percent unless I bought it but I figured I'd just test it out for now anyway.....

But the problem I have is where on earth does it save the file?! I wanted a file I could upload and share but I can't find a file LOL How silly is that?!

Haha wonderful, glad you're making some progress. :-)

With regards to where the files are saved, Click on Settings, then open storage directory. This will open the directory for you. For me, it's "My Recordings"...but you can change that by clicking on 'Settings' and browsing to another folder if you wish as well.

Hope this helps.

Please note that you should use streaming media recording software to make personal archives only. Otherwise you may have legal problems:
Is it legal to record video streams? Can it be considered as a piracy?
