Question

Finding the direct URL of a CBS online radio station

I listen to a station called KISS 106.1. It's in Seattle. I've tried using URL Finder with Replay AV as well as Proxomitron (excuse the spelling)...but I can't find any "direct streaming links" that work!

I've read elsewhere on this forum that you should have some kind of "username and password," but normally I just go to the stream and it plays. Here's the link.
Code:
http://cbsplayer.streamtheworld.com/index.php?CALLSIGN=KBKSFM

Re: Finding the direct URL of a CBS online radio station

  1. Replay AV and start its URL finder (alternatively start sniffing with URL Snooper, but do not search for all URLs, not only multimedia ones).
  2. Go to
    Code:
    www.kiss1061.com
and click onto the "Listen live" link.
  3. Play the stream in the embedded player.
  4. in Replay AV (URL Snooper) you will find a link that looks like the following one:
    Code:
    http://##.##.###.##:80/KBKSFM?streamtheworld_user=1&nocache=##########
This flv audio stream can be recorded with Replay AV and plays fine in VLC player.

Not...really.

It acts like the stream is somewhat "encrypted." That is, it records, but it's a little bit "jittery" or something.

It works fine for me. I use the latest Replay AV, and play with flv player that comes with it.

Hmmm, I'll upgrade my Replay A/V and try again. By the way, can I get this stream to play in Winamp?

My Winamp 5.51 doesn't seem to work with this stream.
Do you know any version of Winamp that supports FLV streams?

You are listening to KBKS

With thanks to cooperation from CBS Radio and StreamTheWorld, PDA users can now access the mp3 link by tapping here <http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/KBKSFMDIALUP.pls> UPDATE! 11/05/07: TCPMP now appears to successfully play these streams.

If the player above doesn't load, you will need to download and install the Macromedia Flash Player.
