How to find Kindle 3 K3 PID?I cannot figure out how to locate the correct PID of my Kindle K3. The serials of K3's differ from other versions of the Kindle in that they start with a B006. I have attempted these methods.
While the last two tools produce the same PID they do not seem to work with MobiDeDRM (v.13) which outputs "Error: no key found. maybe the PID is incorrect". In addition needing the PID I would also like to know what a good way to test the validity of a PID generated from a serial number. Does anyone have a good method for this? I know there are methods to decrypt books via K4PC but thats not my only objective I have for wanting the PID of my kindle. Any help would be greatly valued!!! |

Re: How to find Kindle 3 K3 PID?There are a few reasons to want the PID of your Kindle, for one you can buy mobi pocket boos from other sources and furnish your K3 pid to have them encoded for that device, the same goes for library ebooks. To be honest the main reason I want to find my K3 PID is so I can crack books without K4PC. I dont run Windows, rather Linux and I dont want to have to run a VM just to remove the DRM from the books I bought through the Kindle store. If anyone know how to get the K3 PID like you can the the K1 and K2 please let me know. Thanks for any assistance!

Re: How to find Kindle 3 K3 PID?I like Linux much more than Windows and I hope there will be more cross-platform applications. When only Windows applications are available, I can only suggest to try them in Linux with Wine.

Re: How to find Kindle 3 K3 PID?Does anyone have any suggestions? Besides not having to use Wine/Virtual Box I would vary much like the ability to code mobi books from other sources to my Kindle 3 like you can with a K1 and K2.

Re: How to find Kindle 3 K3 PID?The problem is not just in finding PID. Amazon has updated firmware for Kindle recently. This has changed the way PIDs are used from one per device to a unique PID used for each and every book/user combination. Without this unique book/user specific PID, you can not run any of the DRM tools that were working before.
The workarounds is to use Kindle for PC. |

Re: How to find Kindle 3 K3 PID?Are we sure they that they've only changed to new way of generating PIDs? I ran a brute force trying to figure out the PID for a book to see if this was the case and it found no match.
The brute force was assuming this format: [A-Z0-9]{7}\* (Starting with AAAAAAA* and ending with 0000000*) |

[A-Z0-9]{7}$[A-Z0-9]{2} Or did you calculate the checksums by your software? |

Re: How to find Kindle 3 K3 PID?The checksum is there to make sure you've written down the PID correctly. It's checked and then stripped from the PID before decrypting so I decided not to bother with it. Otherwise I'd have to generate the correct checksum for each PID, check it and throw it away for every key. Valuable clock cycles.
