Re: Downloading Real Media .RM video stream

Your rm file can be a metafile - simple text file with information about a stream. You can try to open it with a simple text editor and see its content.

I don't really know how to record streaming video or audio with WMPlayer.
VLC player and MPlayer can do that, but they are not very good at recording real video/audio/media streams. Another free media stream recorders called Orbit Downloader also have problems with real streams.

I prefer to record streaming Real video/audio lectures with WM Recorder or NetTransport.

Re: Downloading Real Media .RM video stream

I used Replay AV and it actually worked however I met some problems:
  1. The lectures are about 1:20 hour each and It took (Replay A/V ) about 6 hours to stream and download it.
  2. Many times the download stops before it complete the lecture (about 40 minutes) is there anyway to resume the download or even begin the download but after 40 minutes from the beginning of the stream.
thx in advanced

It must be a problem of a server. You can try other media stream recorders to make sure it is.

Also please read the following FAQ:
FAQ: Troubleshooting: Poor audio/video quality of a stream

Many media stream recorders support resuming. When I was downloading Real Media lectures with NetTransport it didn't help, because NetTransport made faulty decisions that it downloaded 100% of the stream. However sometimes I was re-downloading the last 5-10 minutes of the incomplete lecture instead of downloading the full stream again.

Replay AV can't record a part of a stream, while some other stream recorders can do that. See the following FAQ for more:

FAQ:How to record Windows Media and Real Media streams in parts. Start and end times of a media stream.

I decided to try HiDownload and it was great the resuming cabability but as soon as I opened the downloaded file the audio and video was crap

I tried to search for a solution and found Troubleshooting: Poor audio/video quality of a stream
but it didn't give me an actual solution with HiDownload

If you could suggest any solution I would be gratefull

Re: Downloading Real Media .RM video stream

Try some other streaming media recording software, for example NetTransport.

You can also post or PM the URL so that I can try it.
