![]() Record MMS protocol Window Media stream (.ASX, .WMV)You may use any stream recorder supporting Windows Media streamed through the MMS protocol.
One-click recording of this or other Windows Media streams can be done with WM Recorder. Or you may record using a regular procedure: 1. Find the URL of the stream. 2. Record it. To find the URL use Packet Sniffer and URL Snooper software like free Project URL Snooper (some stream recorders like WM Recorder, RM Recorder, Replay A/V, GetAsfStream have a build-in URL finder). Start searching for the URL (sniffing) with URL Snooper software, play your stream and copy the URL from the list of your URL Snooper software to the clipboard. After that you may stop playing your stream. Then paste the stream URL into the stream recorder and finally record it. In this case you may find the URL for the .ASX file in the generated video code: http://www.videocure.com/music-video...ad25366cc8.asx .asx file is a metafile that redirects you to an actual stream. Some streaming video recorders can't postprocess metafiles, but you can right click on this URL, click "Save target as..." and save it to the harddisk. After that you may open it with any text editor like Windows Notepad for example and find the following URL mms://msent.wmod.llnwd.net/a304/o2-orange/msftmsne/Prod/wmv/v9/Video/65/15/54/301541565.wmv The latter URL can be downloaded using any stream recorder supporting Windows Media streamed through the MMS protocol. ![]() Using URL Snooper to find stream URLsUsing URL Snooper:
1. Start URL Snooper. 2. Select your network adapter on the Options tab (it needs to be done once). 3. On the search tab hit the "Sniff network" button. 4. Play your stream (you shouldn't browse the net at the same time to reduce the number of URLs found). 5. The list of URLs will appear. You may filter URLs using the "Protocol filter" drop-down list or you may filter them by keyword (like "akamai", "mms", ".flv", ".wma", etc. - only without quotes). 6. Right click on the URL and select "copy selected URL(s) to the clipboard". 7. Paste the stream URL in your stream recorder. p.s. As you can see, You need some brain and to use it ![]() Last edited by Stream Recorder : 05-26-2006 at 11:07 PM. |

![]() Using WM Recorder free trial to find Windows Media stream URLsYou may download WM Recorder demo and use it to find stream URLs. It is easier to find Windows Media stream URLs with it in the Pro or Ada mode than using URL Snooper.
To find a Windows Media stream URL with WM Recorder: 1. Start WM Recorder (Pro mode or Ada mode) 2. Hit the Record button (Be sure to do this BEFORE you start playing a stream to record!) 3. Start a new browser window and Play your stream 4. Grab the URL (or just buy WM Recorder and record Windows Media streams with this one-click recording software) Last edited by Stream Recorder : 06-23-2006 at 09:31 PM. |
