Convert .FLV's from MTV.Com to .AVI,.MPG,.WMV. What software, format and codec to use

And would like to convert them into another format like .avi, .mpg, .wmv - anything EXCEPT the .FLV which isn't very user friendly for the standalone DVD player (once I put a compilation together using Nero).

What would you recommend as the best od to retain as much of the quality of the .FLV both in video and audio? Do you have any snazzy programs you like to use for converting?

The flash files are nice and fairly large so the quality is up there. I hope to retain as much of the detail as possible.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Converting .FLV's files: software, format and codec

See the list of .FLV converters to learn what software can be used for converting Flash FLV videos.

You may retain high quality with many codecs. Target size and format significantly affects the quality.
I prefer to have MPEG-4 Xvid .AVI videos (I use 2-pass encoding with 2Mbps bit-rate for DVD videos) or MPEG-2 DVD videos.

I could also suggest a MPEG-4 AVC codec (such as x264 or Nero Digital), but not for a standalone DVD player ('coz I haven't seen any DVD player supporting it).
