chaturbate new player stream quality

Chaturbate now has two kinds of players. One is the original one with 'HIGH BW' and 'LOW BW' setting (Chrome) or no options at all (Firefox). The other (new) one lists video streams of various qualities like 'Auto' '240p' '480p' '576p' '720p' '1080p', which you can choose from.
I use the VLC Player method of extracting the .m3u8 link and record the stream and it would automatically fetch the highest quality stream available

However, I have been noticing since today that this method now fetches the lowest quality stream if the page of the cam model is using the newest player. Does anyone else have this problem too? Any workaround?

I am not able to answer this question, but regarding the topic when I saw it:

This seems like a good workaround. I switched to streamlink and it works fine. I am however open to other reccomendations too. Especially on how to get VLC player to fetch the highest quality stream like it used to before.
