Hey guys, I'm new to this forum.

I found a cool site that allows you to view a variety of music videos through an embed flash-based player. Unfortunately, capturing the streaming videos has proven to be difficult.

Here's an example:

There a number of viewing options, I'd like to capture the wmv video at 700k.

I've tried several streaming programs on all-streaming-media.com , but they did not do the job. Futhermore, I've tried screen capturing programs like SnagIt, however, they don't capture the video.

I have a lead...

If you right click on the video, click "properties" on the menu, click on the "file" tab; you'll find a url next to "Location". If you copy that url into a new window, it will launch your windows media player and start playing. But I don't know how to capture streaming media in windows media player.

All help will be appreciated.

there is a trick in the stream world...

rtsp://ostia.roxwel.com/rxo167/marionravenheadswillrollexplicit_300.wmv

change to 700, and mms if you dont like rtsp...

mms://ostia.roxwel.com/rxo167/marionravenheadswillrollexplicit_700.wmv

Seeing as roxwel has lots of great music vids, I'd like to know how you found the direct video link. But if you don't want to share your trade secret, I'd completely understand.

just used urlsnooper to find the url.

i didnt get to delve into playlists etc... that takes too long for 1 url
but its faster for multiple streams.

[Stream Recorder]

The easiest way to find stream Windows Media URLs is by using WM Recorder. Besides WM Recorder is the most powerful Windows Media stream recorder. In And it very easy to use too. In AUTO mode you don't even have to click the record button to capture your stream.

You may use WM Recorder in Demo mode to find stream URLs. You may also use freeware URL Snooper as mentioned by compn.

Thanks for the tips, compn & stream recorder.

This goes far beyond my prior knowledge of ripping (which was limited to cache digging, using net transport, and peeking inside asx files).
