Can You Remove DRM-X Protection From Video Files with .hup file extension?

Hello I wonder if anybody can help me.

I have a few video files that have the extension .hup but I can’t seem to play them in WMP. I understand they have some sort of protection attached to them but I was wondering if this can be removed so I can view them in WMP instead of Haihaisoft Universal Player?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Re: Can You Remove DRM-X Protection From Video Files with .hup file extension?

Since few companies use DRM-X for protecting content, I don't think any lossless DRM removal software for HUP files will appear anytime soon. As with any other unknow protection, you can use screen video capture software. DRM-X seem to allow to blacklist screen recorders, but since there are so many of them, I don't think this can be effective.

Some more thoughts. DRM-X is not a DRM protection that seems to be supported by the most popular container formats such as WMA, WMV, ASF, RM, RMVB, FLV, MP4, AVI and PDF document. Since all these formats are supported by DRM-X, it makes me think that DRM-X protection should be pretty weak. Chances are that Haihaisoft Universal Player creates temporary files that are DRM-free or it stores DRM-free data in the memory. If you have large files protected by DRM-X, you can easily check this out.

p.s. Don't buy any DRM-protected content to avoid any problems. Use services that offer DRM-free content instead.
DRM protected content limits the devices that you can use. And even when you buy DRM-protected content from large companies, you can lose the ability to play it anytime (Yahoo! Music Unlimited is a great example that even large companies like Yahoo don't really care about their customers).
