Re: Can streaming videos on sportsnet.ca be captured? (rtmp:// flv from flash player)

Hmm, I've got an idea...I picked this one up from Applian. Clearing your browser cache, and trying again.

If you're using IE:
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools-Internet Options
3. Go to Browsing History-delete
4. Delete Temporary Internet files

Now:

1. Open Replay Media Catcher
2. Select start recording
3. Select the URL you want to capture
4. It should record-if it doesn't please select F5 on your keyboard.

Just so you know, the first four steps might not be necessary if you haven't been to the site before.

Let us know if THAT helps.

Clearing browser cache usually helps to record http streams. AFAIK RTMP streams are not cached by the browser so most probably it won't help.

thanks for trying noob2001 but im afraid the first few links take you to the same site location. The 2nd set of links doesnt work because browsers cant locate rtmp as an address.

So i tried it again with FLV Record and i might have made a small breakthrough.. kinda..

this is what im getting now. The flv recorder sees the file and starts to record the packets it seems. Once the video is done I am left with 2 files.

Both named the same (i changed it to experiment in the screenshot). One is an flv file but it is 1kb. The other is what seems to be the video but it turns into an @@@ file. I suppose meaning windows has no clue what it is.

I tried to change the extension to flv but that didnt work. Played the 1kb file that said finding stream.

So is there some way to open that @@@ file or some type of conversion? I tried opening it up with video program to see if it could view it as a video but it couldnt. So im a babystep past getting the file on the comp.. but now it seems its not playable. Like a group of jumbled packets or something i dunno..

I have this same problem recording from another address. The @@@ files do still seem to be video, but the header is a bit different to an flv that I know works... I emailed FLVrecorder makers and they said they will look into it..

mabey if a few others say they are having problems they will update sooner. The last update was a long time back.

thanks. Yeah its the right size of the movie file, but it seems its just the packets downloaded and jumbled up. Changing the extension didnt seem to solve the problem.

Ill give them a email too. Thanks. Maybe they can fix it.

Re: Can streaming videos on sportsnet.ca be captured? (rtmp:// flv from flash player)

just a little update..

the new: Replay Media Catcher 3.0 can catch the stream. The new version can capture rtmp.

on the bad side i only have the demo version so i can only capture 75% of it.

I've got the full version, and if you ask me it's well worth the $30 or $40 it costs.
