can not link avt779 dvr with router

Hi,

I have got a similar problem to the one mentioned in the following thread:
AV760Z(uk) - Cannot connect via IP: Login procedure failed. Help please

I can not link my avt779dvr with my router (which is set on dhcp) no matter how much i try fiddling with the IP's.

I tried connecting the dvr direct with my laptop using an ethernet cable, i could ping the dvr, but web page bar shows error on page. used 192.168.1.1 on the dvr and 192.168.1.2 on the lappy no difference.

the dvr came with the videoserver software which also doesn't link to the router no matter how i try.

At the moment the settings on the dvr are as follows:

IP APLLICATION - STATIC
IP ADDRESS- 192.168.1.116
SUBNET- 255.255.255.0
DNS1- 196.41.62.46(FROM THE ISP)
PORT-80

note:LAN is getting IP's from router through dhcp.

Please assist.

Re: can not link avt779 dvr with router

I am not familiar with the AVT 779. I specialize in AVTECH products from Taiwan. If this is a rebadged AVTech DVR, then I can figure your problems out.

Do you have a link to the manual?

What is the name of the remote software, and do you have a link to a download for the remote software?

If you can ping it, then you are communicating with the DVR. This tells me that the internal network server is working. My next guess is that you do not have the router set up for port forward.

I would have you hook it back to a router, and try to ping it again. If it works then I would have you reset you go to your win XP, and go to INTERNET OPTIONS, then go to the security tab, and change "prompt unsigned active x", and then go to the general tab, and then delete TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES, and then open a new Micro soft IE browser. Put in your DVR LAN IP address, and then allow the active x download, and then run the active x software.

It should work over the browser. Now try the remote software. Does any of this work??

For those of you with MAC computers. MAC hates Micro Soft therefore they do not use active x. All DVRs use active x therefore you cannot use MACs. In the USA market I do have a DVR that works with the IPHONE (Apple).

What do you think?
