can AVS video converter convert an entire folder of .wmv files to .avi or .mp4?

Hello,
I just started using AVS Video Converter and I think it is great.

I know how to convert a single file to another video type.

However, is there a slick way to say - take this whole folder of about 100 .wmv files and convert all .wmv files in that folder to .avi files of the same name, but put those new .avi files into different folders?

so... I went to All-streaming-media.com: AVS Video Converter

but I don't understand if this quote below describes what I am trying to do:
"# Convert several video files at once (batch conversion). All key formats are supported."

I don't understand "batch conversion" or "all key formats"

Thank you for your time,

is there a FAQ for this program?

EDIT: I went to http://www.avsmedia.com/VideoTools/index.aspx but still could not find the answer I am looking for.

EDIT2: I found http://www.avsmedia.com/VideoTools/howto.aspx#quiz2

"How to select input file or files?

You can select a file which you would like to convert clicking the Browse... button next to the Input File Name field. In an opened Windows Explorer window select a needed file.

You can also select multiple files. To add and delete files from the list, use plus and minus ( + and - ) buttons. Please note, that if you use Browse..., your input file will simply be replaced, and no files will be added. But afterwards you will need to specify if you would like to convert them simultaneously to separate files (using Batch Mode processing) or convert them all into one single file (which is set upon default)."

However, I still would like a way to do it without clicking the add button 100 times. I would really like a way to search a folder for all .wmv files and then convert them individually (batch? I think) and output them all to a different folder

I dunno whether any video converter can do that.

But you can convert file with AVS Video Converter and then use freeware renaming/moving utility.

Key formats means the most popular formats.

Batch conversion means that you can select multiple files and convert all of them easily.

For example, you can use Siren with the following code:
Code:
%pa\\%n\\1.avi
To copy or move files to the subfolders of the original folder ("%pa") with names like 001, 002, 003, ... ("%n"). All of the files will have the name "1.avi". And "\\" is used to create a subfolder.

If your video files reside in the same folder, you can click on the "+" button and select all of them (use CTRL+A, select with the left mouse button and CTRL,...).

When you convert multiple files you can join them or:
  • Click the "Advanced>>>" button
  • Make sure the "Split" option is checked.
  • Make sure the "Batch mode" is selected.
