Burning Howard Stern Sirius CD's (after capturing Sirius Radio Online to HD)

What audio format is needed in order to split the Howard Stern Sirius show into 4-5 CD's? If that format is unavailable for download, what software can easily change the audio format?

Recording Sirius Radio Online shows to an Audio CD

Recording Sirius Radio Online shows to an Audio CD

Before recording Sirius Radio Online with Replay A/V or Replay Radio please read the following HowTo guide: "How to Record Sirius Radio Online to the PC".

You may also download Replay A/V or Replay Radio (both are free to try), install them and read their User Guides.

To record an Audio CD without any additional quality loss, you should record Sirius radio shows to the WAV format. Although you may record to MP3 'coz many CD burners (like Nero for example) can easily burn MP3 files to Audio CD. MP3 is a lossy format (i.e. you lose some quality when converting to it), so in most cases it is better to record to WAV files.

To record to WAV with Replay A/V, Replay Radio:
After clicking onto the manual add button follow the other steps mentioned in the "How to Record Sirius Radio Online to the PC" guide except before the last step #10 (clicking the OK button) do the following:
1. Click the "Output" tab;
2. From the "Record to this format" drop-down list Select "WAV".

Burning Audio CD
1. You may burn an Audio CD from WAV files with Replay A/V, Replay Radio automatically by checking the "Make Audio CD" checkbox on the "Output" tab of the "Manual Add" window.
2. You may burn an Audio CD from the recorded WAV or MP3 files with Replay A/V, Replay Radio using their "Burn/Copy" feature.
3. You may burn an Audio CD from the recorded WAV or MP3 files with your favorite CD burner.

Burning Data CD or DVD
As an alternative, Replay A/V, Replay Radio can record Sirius radio shows
a. to MP3 files
--or--
b. to WAV files with the following conversion to AAC (iPod Bookmarkable), MP3, WMA, OGG.

You may burn AAC, MP3, WMA, OGG to a Data CD or DVD.

Replay A/V and Replay Radio can burn Data CD automatically after recording or manually (click the "Burn/Copy" button).

Re: Burning Howard Stern Sirius CD's (after capturing Sirius Radio Online to HD)

I was actually looking for a long time for the way to record Sirius broadcasts. This thread was very helpful, but before I found it I did some research and came up with the software that can do it too. It uses a little bit different approach and most importantly is free. I think it's called simple radio recorder. I don't know, google it and let me know what do you think?

I was wondering, how many 2 hours shows can fit onto one CD. I will be recording Rosie's sirius radio show and would like to save some shows on disc. How large would a 2 hour talk show be? How many per disc?

If you want to convert your recording to Audio CD, then you can burn up to 80 minutes onto one CD. If you want to burn MP3s to an audio CD, you can burn about 10 hours (it depends on the bit-rate of your MP3 files).

Re: Burning Howard Stern Sirius CD's (after capturing Sirius Radio Online to HD)

Would someone be able to figure what bitrate would be good to fit 5 MP3 2 hour episodes onto one CD. It is talk radio. I want the quality to be good also.

I would use the Replay AV 8.

I don't have sirius yet so I guess this could be a dumb question, but will it have commercial breaks? I thought I heard sat radio is commercial free, or was that just for the music stations?

Does anyone have any experience with playing sirius online? I have high speed cable internet. Does it ever pause to buffer or just play straight through? I have Big Brother Live Feeds and they pause a little at times.

Will replay av8 record the 2 hour show in one file or will it split it?

thank you for your help.

128 kbps for a talk radio is more than enough. And you can burn this onto one CD. You may try to use 96kbps or less.

I suggest you to repeat the question in the following forum

Replay AV allows you to record as a single file as well as split your recording.

RAV has a free trial version that you can try before buying. Also Applian offers a 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee.

Does that mean I could fit 5 - 2 hour episodes onto one CD? So 10 hours would fit? Would more fit? And burn in what format? MP3? What format do i record to? mp3?

thank you so much

I don't really know what kind of players you have, so I can't suggest you whether to burn an Audio CD, a CD with MP3s or a DVD with MP3s.

There 2 kind of CDs: 650MB and 700 MB (although there are mini CDs that are smaller). The amount of content you can burn depends on CD size, format and bit-rate.

If you want to burn MP3 files to a CD, then use MP3 format to record. Make some tests to choose a bit-rate high enough for your needs.
