Metafiles (such as .SMIL) can be used to broadcast multiple video files.
If you wanna broadcast video as well as images with audio you need a custom embedded player. You can also convert images with audio to video and then broadcast them.
You may also use JavaScript to control what you broadcast: video segement(s) or audio with images.

This can be done using many web technologies like Flash, JavaScript,...

Would more than one machine be needed to accomplish the tasks I have described?
Thanks for your consideration and time to answer this inquiry.

I suppose first of all you must make sure that such broadcast will be legal. Also you should broadcast high-quality videos to plasma screens.
'coz you wanna show everything not on a web-page, but on the screen, I suppose it is better to overlay video with score and/or any other details. Metafiles and other technologies mentioned above are of no use here. You should learn about streaming servers that broadcast Windows Media, Real Media, Flash, Quick Time,... formats. Then you should use/develop software that will prepare data for the streaming server.
Anyway I suggest you to hire an experienced programmer to do the job. You may use
Freelance service databases to outsource your project. Make sure he has experience in such things.
Many freelance marketplaces use "Escrow Payments" (you submit the bid amount to an escrow account only after you accept coder's bid). If you're not satisfied with the result, you can simply request freelance marketplace staff to determine if the contract was met or not. Satisfaction is guaranteed!
