Question

Blu Ray "Death race" / Digital copy disk. Removing drm?

Hi, i just brought 'Death race' on blu ray. It comes with a digital copy disk, this allows me to copy the movie to either my hard disk or a portable device. From reading online, i found out i can only transfer it once to either my hard disk or my device....thats not much use.

I've tried copying the disk with the movie on it (disk 2) but anydvd gives "drive x is not ready error". I presume i can't go any further down that route, so that leaves me with a drm issue i guess...

If i go ahead and transfer the 'file/movie' to my hard disk, is there a way i can remove the drm, as currently im running windows vista (so wmp 11 )

Seems weird how its easier to make my own backup off the blu ray disk to play on my portable device rather than use the brought 'digital copy'

Any ideas or advice on what i can do if i decide to transfer it to my hard disk? Will it be possible to remove the drm on windows vista, or is that still 'messy' to do?

I would suggest to contact support of AnyDVD HD so that they can fix the problem (especially if you own it).

Or you can try alternative blu ray rippers.

I have no problem trying to rip the blu ray disk, it is the 'digital copy' i am wondering about. This comes on a separate disk, on a normal dvd, and when inserted pops up with "do you want to transfer X to hard disk"? Which you can only do once.

The fact that Anydvd won't copy the disk is down to the fact that the dvd isn't actually a movie dvd, but just a dvd with the WMV/MP4 stored on it, therefore any help from their support simply say "Anydvd is intended for use with commercially released dvd-videos only." It may the original disk, but it isn't a dvd video?

Anyway, should i stop bothering about trying to remove the drm from the 'digital copy' and just rip the blu ray and do whatever i want with it from there :P? Just thought that it would be easier to use the digital copy in wmv format if it was un-drmed e.t.c.

Re: Blu Ray "Death race" / Digital copy disk. Removing drm?

Sorry, I didn't know that.

The DVD with WMV and/or MP4 is probably not a DVD-Video disc (unless it is a hybrid disc with both VIDEO_TS folder containing DVD-Video as well as some other files and folders).

Actually there are several choices here:

First of all, you can use AnyDVD HD to rip a blu ray disk and then convert it into some other format like MPEG-4 .AVI video.

You can also try to remove DRM protection from the file transferred to your hard disk. What kind of file is that, MP4 or WMV? Or do you have both?

Anyway besides using DRM removal software you can always use screen video capture software. And actually you can capture video from screen while playing your blu ray disk.
