Avtech AVC 796 - Unable to login remotely: ERROR: Authentication error.

I wonder if anyone is able to help me.

I have an Avtech AVC796 which is running perfectly however, when I try to login from my Apple Mac over either my local network or the internet, I receive the error message:

ERROR: Authentication error.

I have tried admin, administrator, operator plus the correct passwords that I have set up on the box and ensure that I type the verification code exactly as it is presented(ie, using caps where displayed)

Anyone any ideas?
