avtech 4 ch dvr h.264 sound issues

Hi all,
Everything works fine, except listening to audio over h.264, only gets met squeeks and bangs over the speakers...when I select quicktime in live view it works good, but..trying to playback files it puts me automatically back in h.264 and I can't select quicktime from there.
So, no sound playing recordings back. Please help!!!
Issue on different pc's (win 7, xp sp2, xp sp3 etc) , using viewer software and also when directly contacting the built in webviewer on the machine, must be a faulty h.264 codec from avtech but how to get a better one?

Thanks a lot,

Reso

Re: avtech 4 ch dvr h.264 sound issues

some more info:
I upgraded to 1032 firmware, same issues with the sound.
It is not the soundcard, not the firmware and only on h.264, quicktime is fine, but not usable for replaying recorded events.
beats me.
when starting up either viewer or logging on to the built in webserver, the speakers start making clicks

From your description it appears that the audio works as you can use quicktime.

I do not have enough information to troubleshoot the situation. You may have to take the DVR to a repair shop local to you so that they can take a look at it. I do not know if it would be a codec problem, but I doubt it otherwise the internet would be full of users with the same complaint. This makes the situation unique to you. I would have to set it up locally to me in order to see what the issue is.

Re: avtech 4 ch dvr h.264 sound issues

The problem you re encountering is indeed a fault with the supplied AVtech H.264 streaming codec. This will not install into IE, Opera, Firefox, Safari or any other browsers. The reason that there are not many people complaining about this iisue is that most do not use the IP software/hardware that's bundled with the video unit.

I'm currently working on a fix for the codec. Once completed, I'll re-post with my email address and I'll send this directly to you.

The issue in laymans terms is that the codec supplied puts explorer into an infinite loop if it's 32bit, and will not install at all on a 64bit version.

Like you, the Quicktime codec works fine, so it's definately not the box!!!

Back soon.
