I got 4 hour long old radio show and I need to split it. What is the best way to do this.

You can try to split it with a freeware sound editor Audacity (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/Audacity-free-sound-editor-Windows-Linux-MacOSX.htm).

Also Replay Music (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/Replay-Music-record-any-web-radio-station-or-streaming-music-service.htm) can re-record from your sound card splitting and tagging songs automatically. But there should be no song overlapping.

Also u can try RadioTracker (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/RadioTracker-Icecast-Shoutcast-grabber-Find-mp3-internet-radio-stations-playing-your-favorite-music-and-record-them.htm), it can split music files and also radio shows

It can, but I don't really like its song splitting. I prefer to use freeware lossless MP3DirectCut (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/MP3DirectCut-free-MP3-editor-Cut-copy-paste-change-volume.htm) for splitting and cutting MP3 files.

You can also use MP3 Magic (http://www.applian.com/mp3magic/index.php). It allows to add several breakpoints.

Yeah, anyone with their opinion, I didn't get RadioTracker (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/RadioTracker-Icecast-Shoutcast-grabber-Find-mp3-internet-radio-stations-playing-your-favorite-music-and-record-them.htm) just for cutting the songs, I got it mainly to get unlimited music for free and until now did a great job.

The radio station will not play in Tracker. I tape it with screamer radio. I can burn cd but need to put the tracks in to for zune. I also have 4 hours dat tapes of radio stations that need to get mp3 and split.

I got up to 17000 song it became a mess, so delete them to start over. 17000 x .79=$13,500.00 gone in one click. I love this RadioTracker (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/RadioTracker-Icecast-Shoutcast-grabber-Find-mp3-internet-radio-stations-playing-your-favorite-music-and-record-them.htm).

I second the recommendation of MP3DirectCut (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/MP3DirectCut-free-MP3-editor-Cut-copy-paste-change-volume.htm) as an audio splitter and player. Very useful. Can even be used to time-record internet streams when used in combination with scheduled tasks and a browser.

I will third it for MP3DirectCut (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/MP3DirectCut-free-MP3-editor-Cut-copy-paste-change-volume.htm). It what I wanted. The only problem now zune player is not playing it but it downloaded in there. Thanks for your help.

BeSplit is another option. It can fix, cut and split WAV/AC3/AAC/MPA/MP3/MP2/MP1 files. It allows you to add several splitting points. I wish it had a wave similar to the one that MP3DirectCut offers.

Please note that MP3DirectCut (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/MP3DirectCut-free-MP3-editor-Cut-copy-paste-change-volume.htm) is a direct sound recording software (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audio-stream/direct-sound-recording.htm), so it records from your sound card. In many cases it is better to download streams, because this allows you to record several streams simultaneously plus you can use your sound card when downloading any media content.

You can also try Mp3splt-gtk. It can split MP3 and OGG files without decoding.

p.s. It doesn't work for me, but it seems that it allows to choose multiple split points.

Agreed. Downloading streams is MUCH better. Software solutions to download streams are addressed elsewhere on this forum.

it depends upon the stream. assuming it is mp3, and if it has 'detectable' silence
mp3splt (http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/mp3splt_page/documentation/man.html) will cut it. use the '-s -p th=-xx' flags. it also has time modes. otherwise split it by hand using MP3DirectCut (http://all-streaming-media.com/edit-audio-video/MP3DirectCut-free-MP3-editor-Cut-copy-paste-change-volume.htm).

I have downloaded and cut the episodes into movie's. To do it, I need to be able to pull the voices out of a single audio track, ditch the music so that i can add my own and not have chopped up music when I edit the clips into a movie.
