View Full Version : Problem with Replay Media Catcher: RMC disables Firefox and I.E. web-browsers

When I run Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm), it appears to disable my web browser. I've tried starting the browser first, starting RMC first, recording before and after starting the web browser, and have tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox with the same result.

On some occasions RMC will work, but usually clicking on the record button results in the web browser becoming unable to load any data at all. I'm using windows XP Professional and a fully registered version of Replay Media Catcher.

Can anyone help? thanks..... wildaussieboy

That's weird. Please remember that you have a 30 day unconditional money back guarantee.

What version of Flash Player do you have? Try to get the latest one.
What versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox do you have?

What exactly do you mean by Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) disabling your browser? Does your browser freezes? Does it stop receiveing streaming data for the embedded player or any data including HTML pages?

Do you have WinPcap installed? If you don't then you should install it. I had something similar when I had unistalled WinPcap, then I installed it back and the problems gone.

I am currently having the same issue. If Replay Media Catcher is running, recording or not, no web pages will load. Just says "Done" at the bottom, can't go back or forward. I did reinstall the WinPcap thing and even specifically clicked exe to start, but it made no difference.
I'm running WinXP sp2, tried on firefox (2.0.0.14) and IE. I did try the trial before purchasing through "trialpay" and it seemed okay. Just wondering if the Firefox update might have messed it up? Can't recall if I did it in between the "working" and "not working".
Any help would be appreciated.:)

And when you close Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm) or Stop recording, your web browsers start working normally?

I actually have to close Media Catcher and restart my browser. Just stopping recording and closing isn't enough. If I start Media Catcher prior to opening browser (without even starting recorder) no web page will load. I've repeatedly emptied the cache, etc.

What kind of OS do you have?
What kind of hardware do you use for your Internet access?

I'm running Win XP MCE with sp2. Processor is AMD athlon 64 3500+, 991mhz, 1.18gb ram. I have a RoadRunner connection. PC is wired thru a Netgear 824 router (ie. not using wireless).
I also use the CA firewall, but it shows that is RMC is allowed to connect. BTW...I did try doing it with firewall turned off. Still didn't work.
Thank you for your interest in this :)

Please uninstall Replay Media Catcher (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-Media-Catcher-HTTP-RTMP-FLV-MP3-ripper-recorder.htm), download and install the latest version - 2.20. Let me know if you have the same problem with it.

Will definitely try it.
Also, I have been able to get RMC to work with the "Flock" browser.
I had been in contact with Applian's support team, trying several things, with no success. Last I heard(4/21), they were sending it to their next level support team. Haven't heard anything since then.

Unfortunately the update did not help :(
Here are the responses I had received from Applian Support. Maybe they can help someone else.

With regards to this, please add Replay Media Catcher
(mediacatcher.exe) to your firewall(s) and anti-virus software and make sure it's an allowed program on ALL of them.
Try that and let me know if that makes any difference, and thanks for your patience.

This is really strange. Please do me a favor and reinstall the program and see if that corrects the issue. If it doesn't let me know.

With regards to this, let me have you try a few things please:
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools-Internet Options
3. Go to Browsing History-delete
4. Delete Temporary Internet files

Now:

1. Open Replay Media Catcher
2. Select start recording
3. Select the URL you want to capture
4. It should record-if it doesn't please select F5 on your keyboard.

Just so you know, the first four steps might not be necessary if you haven't been to the site before.

If you continue to have issues, please let me know.

Hi

On Windows Vista, or in some cases with XP, the Data Execution Prevention feature of Windows causes Replay A/V and other programs to crash.

Here's how you can turn off Data Execution Prevention:

Click Start.
Select Control Panel (or Settings, Control Panel if you're on Vista)
On Vista, select Classic View.
Double click System
On Vista, Select Advanced System Settings
Click the Advanced tab
In the Performance region select Settings
Click the Data Execution Prevention tab
Select Turn on DEP essential Windows Programs and Services only
Click OK
Reboot

Let me know how it goes.

Hi

I'm going to send this to the next level of support.

summary: XP, Replay Media Catcher, reinstalled, allowed in Firewall, web pages will not load with Media Catcher open-even if not recording, cleared cache, also tried with firewall turned off, adjusted DEP

Hi -
What anti-spyware/anti-virus programs are you using?

Hi -
What anti-spyware/anti-virus programs are you using?

I had been running CA (computer associates) security suite (with AV turned off) and AVG antivirus. A couple of days ago, I completely removed the CA software and added Online Armor as my firewall. Also, installed Advanced Windows Care and did some additional cleaning.
After reading your post, I thought I would try again and it works now!!!
Yeah!!! Don't know exactly what did it (I had run other cleaners, etc), but I won't complain. :p
Thank you for asking and reminding me to give it another go. I had tried everything else. Even Appian didn't seem to have a clue.

The recommendation was provided by Jeff Lenney (Technical Support of Applian Technologies, Inc.)

One of the main reasons why people like software from Applian and why I recommend it is Applian technical support.
