Applian FLV Player (http://www.applian.com/flvplayer/) is a freeware FLV player for Windows. It works fine in Linux with Wine too. I tested Applian FLV Player in Ubuntu 9.10.
Wine lets you run Windows software on other operating systems like Linux and Mac OS. With Wine, you can install and run these applications just like you would in Windows.
How to install Applian FLV Player in Linux like Ubuntu 9.10
Install Wine using Ubuntu Software Center, your favorite package manager or from Terminal:
sudo app-get install wine
Download Applian FLV Player (http://www.applian.com/flvplayer/download_flv_player.php) (Windows).
Right-click on the downloaded file and select "Open with Wine Windows Program Loader"
How to run Applian FLV Player in Ubuntu 9.10
Go to Applications -> Wine -> Programs -> Applian Technologies and select Applian FLV Player
Hit the Open button or link to open an .FLV video.
Note: It seems like Drag-n-drop doesn't work.
