Somebody please help...
I hope this is the right forum.
I liked the features of Replay AV (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-AV-capture-Streaming-Video-Audio-Radio-Shows-Online-TV-Broadcasts-Video-Clips-Audio-Archives-Podcasts-Free-to-try.htm) for capturing audio, especially the scheduler. I did not try them out but decided to go for the whole suite for $100.
I loaded all individual components and Replay AV8, which may have been a mistake (was I only supposed to load AV8? They gave me activation codes for each piece) and I think they all work but when I launch AV8 I get the Windows application failure notice. I really want to make this work but I have been struggling for weeks with zero progress. Does anyone have any ideas?

It is a good lesson. Always test software before buying it!
But don't worry too much. All Applian software comes with 30 Day Money Back Guarantee!
When solving problems with software it is a good idea to contact the support team of the vendor.
What version of Windows do you have?
What kind of error message exactly did your Replay AV (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/Replay-AV-capture-Streaming-Video-Audio-Radio-Shows-Online-TV-Broadcasts-Video-Clips-Audio-Archives-Podcasts-Free-to-try.htm) show?
Can you attach the log file of Replay AV ( log-###.txt usually can be found in C:\Program Files\Replay AV\ ).

Thanks so much.
Its not so much the money, I just need the thing to work so I can load the ipod of a friend in the hospital.
Since I am ignored by the "support team", I'm looking for help anyplace I can find it. To answer your questions:
- XP Pro
- I get the "Sorry Replay A/V has encountered a problem and needs to close" error from Windows.
I have yet to see an opening screen. Here is the entire contents of the log file (log-12-28-07.txt) from the last time I tried to launch:
Recording log for All Shows
Replay A/V Version 8.41
Reg code:
Fri Dec 28 12:11:07 PM Windows OS = Microsoft Windows XP Professional
The file is attached. Thanks!

Tough problem. Asked the support...
Have you tried older versions? Do they have the same problem?

No, I never had an older version. This is very strange. I have never seen this happen on this PC and I have a few very elaborate (and expensive) programs on it, and no junk. I sent the file that goes to microsoft in the event of a crash to applian, I guess that has no clues? I wonder if there is anything it may conflict with, Realplayer, quicktime, some NCH stuff that I used to use...

As a programmer I don't really see any chance to avoid bugs in software. When you fix old bugs, new ones appear. Usually the less software you have on your PC, the better.
When you send the report of a crash to M$, I'm not sure even M$ knows about it :) Speaking seriously, I always thought that this feature was made to report the crashes of M$ products especially Windows. I don't really think that M$ informs other software vendors, especially small ones.
Most probably this conflict is caused by firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-malware. You can try to disable them temporarily.
And there can be problems with WinPCap. Please try to find a URL of some media stream with freeware URL Snooper (http://all-streaming-media.com/find-stream-URL/Project-URL-Snooper-Find-the-actual-stream-URL-Free-download.htm), that also uses WinPCap.

No, Im doing other things today but yesterday I did uninstall all applian components including sendit and winpcap, rebooted in clean mode, made sure nothing nonessential was running, re-downloaded again, re-installed again. Same thing... no .log file either. What other programs have a scheduler? I dont care if its not free.

Have you tried to install older version (the links are in your private messages)?

-What kind of streams do you wanna record?
-Do you wanna record talk shows or from music radio automatically splitting and tagging songs?
-Do you wanna rip streams or record from your sound card?
-Do you need video stream recording?

I redownloaded and re-installed in clean mode. No anti-anything programs running. I'll try the older version now.
-What kind of streams do you wanna record?
Mostly streaming radio.
-Do you wanna record talk shows or from music radio automatically splitting and tagging songs?
I dont really care about this.
-Do you wanna rip streams or record from your sound card?
Streams. I have another way to digitize analog audio if I need to. I want to be able to schedule a recording session to catch a radio program when Im not here.
-Do you need video stream recording?
Thought it sounded cool but in all reality I would probably never use it.

Well Hot Diggety, version 7 runs!!!
It loaded easily with PC in normal mode (antivirus and firewall running). I notice it didnt install the sendit thing or winpcap, maybe theres a problem with one of those.
I'll get to know it a little, then try to figure out how I might get to version 8. Thanks for the help!

AV7 seems to do everything I was looking for. (Looking forward to AV8 someday) But I was wondering, can I capture from a Canopus ADVC110? I think only Adobe Premiere-type things do that, but thought I would check because it would be so much easier this way. Thanks again.

Even if it could record from such a hardware, most probably I would use other software. I would try freeware VirtualDub...

Did you mean that all Replay AV 8 versions refuse to run or only the latest 8.41???
What firewall, anti-virus, anti-malware software do you have?

I last downloaded on 12-30. The RAVSetup.exe file is version 6.0.1.4. I have downloaded several times over the past 5 weeks with the same result. I found version 7 on the website, which works, but I did not see any older versions of AV8 so I have probably only tried the very latest AV8. I normally run McAfee firewall and Norton Antivirus, but I booted in clean mode, downloaded, installed with none of that running, with the same result. Details are earlier in this thread.
