Anyone Download WMV from BBC with VPN?

I am trying to troubleshoot a problem that just started (on Feb 7th, 2012) with downloading WMV files from the BBC iplayer whilst using a VPN.

I can get to the download options but as soon as I click on download wmv it just hangs with the message please wait we are accessing the file and the windows box where I can save the file and the name of it never comes up.

The downloads using iplayer desktop with vpn work fine.

Is there anyone out there that uses a uk vpn and try to download a wmv file to see if this happens to you?

I am posting a reply to my own question. BBC just reported they are having a problem and so it is on their end not mine.
