This is an update to the FairUse4WM rollback fix I released over a year ago. It contains everything you need to be DRM-free using a Napster subscription under Windows XP. This is fact will work for other subscription services too, however the lingo in this release is Napster specific since it is the best subscription service available. Just do the instructions exactly as written. You only have to go through them once ever, so be patient and read them!

I have been following the instructions and after installing and running WMP10 I do not see a Napster store link or logo... I am guessing this may be to do with the face that I am in in the UK... so am trying to figure out alternative ways to install the Napster Plugin? Any ideas? I presume downloading the Napster install .exe file from the Napster site isn't the way to go?

Scratch that request I made... I got to napster within WMP by going to View -> Online Stores menu... am installing the plugin now

Works a treat

Noticed one thing though... track numbers in the tag are increased by +1 ie. on an album with 10 tracks, the track tags are actually 2 to 11? Easily fixed using foobar2000 and its masstagger plugin... but was curious as to the cause of this? Maybe its unrelated to the DR M removal and something n @pst3r specific?

Glad you guys got it working. I like this fix since it is futureproof. Your IBX is based on your version of media player, and the highest version that WMP10 can accomodate is a crackable version by FairUse4WM. Hey, it's Microsoft's own fault for discontinuing WMP10 updates. I use VLC to play everything anyway, the only reason I keep WMP10 installed is for the DRM.

I followed yer instructions fine right up to step 5, to install mp10setup.exe, however its telling me that "This version of Windows Media Technologies (WMP 10) is incompatible with this version of Windows." Any clue why it might be sayin this? I have Win XP Pro SP2.

I tried installing WMP 9 but it said the same thing...

is there any chance we can get a similar type setup with a vista installation? there's some stuff that I can get (olympics to go) that is limited to vista's media center.

Awesome. Although the necessity for this tool is decreasing as many media sellers are abandoning DRM. I suppose they think people who are smart and determined enough will find the files without DRM on a file sharing network somewhere. The majority of the public though will not bother and will just buy the music, so why inconvenience them and make things over complicated by using DRM.
