WM Recorder - need advise on recording part of game replay from GameCenter

Hello,

I'm new to the stream recording gig. I do a ton of video reproduction on old vintage hockey games. Now I'd like to try my hand at a little recording.

I am a member of an online game portal called gamecenter. Basically I have no interest in recording the entire games, (they are NHL hockey). I am more interested in recording the fights from the games. I also have no interest in recording live (as they're happening fights). My interest is in the archives. The archives consist of all the previous live games which you can go back to any date and find what you are looking for.

Basically I want to track through the game to the particular fight then isolate that fight. The total recording time could be anywhere from :30 seconds to 1 minute and 30 seconds.

I've been doing some practice trying to isolate with WM Recorder. But it seems no matter what I do, the recorder starts recording from the beginning of the game. Not where I set the marker in the game and then clicked record.

So my question is. How can I record only the part I want without having to record the entire game?

Thank you everybody. I look forward to any help anybody can provide

WM Recorder is a stream capture program. It will capture from the beginning of the stream and will continue to download until the stream has finished. It is not possible to record clips with this type of software - they often capture faster than real time. Screen recording software would be the best way for you to record the clips that you want from these videos.

WM Recorder can capture packets from Windows Media Player in the PRO mode, so not only can you download Windows Media stream from the beginning up to the end, but capture some part that you play. The only problem is that the PRO mode is for recording from Windows Media Player.

I can't figure out how guys from other fight sites record the fights as they happen and upload them immediately to youtube.

If a fight happens right now. A half hour from now that video will be uploaded to youtube by a particular fight site. And I know they're getting the cap from gamecenter feeds.

GameCenter uses simple HTTP flash video streams. It is very easy to download them much faster than in real time. You just need a fast Internet Connection. You can download the whole video from GameCenter with WM Recorder and then try edit it with freeware AviDemux.

Since this is the Support Forum for WM Recorder, post about other software were moved into the following thread:

Please note that if you own WM Recorder, it should be better to get WM Capture as an upgrade than Replay Video Capture. WM Capture and Replay Video Capture have identical functionality.
