Is this site used for promotion purposes?

First I suspected competition-related reasons to only allow specific postings. I'd encountered Stream-Recorder frequently when I googled for help on downloading from streaming sites. Whenever I saw this site, it left the impression as if it's being used for promotion purposes. That's why I've rather been sceptical but having read on the mailing list, that Howard added your forum to the MPlayer homepage, I'd "dared" to sign up and pose a few questions I've carried for quite some time. Looks like Stream-Recorder is in fact affiliated with some products but is not opposed to competitors.

I'm a live person, so I'm indeed subjective. Currently I like Replay Media Catcher, WM Recorder, Jaksta (although they are being developed by different people), so I do try to promote them. This is not only because of the quality of the products, but also because of the support and their refund policies.

I post a lot about Applian software and All Alex software products. Besides mentioned above this can be explained by the fact that their programs were ahead of time. I've been using them for ages, so I know them better.

If you disagree with me or any other user of the forum, you can not only suggest other programs for a particular web-site, but also vote and voice your opinion in threads like:
-The best video stream recorder, stream downloader, stream ripper, stream capture soft
-the Best Screen Capture Program (record ANY video from your screen)

This forum has been functioning to provide alternatives.

I've always wondered how I could make this forum less subjective. I've tried not to reply for a week or even more, but I only got tons of PMs copying forum posts.

Any ideas how to make this forum more useful?
