Sometimes a recorded live streams/webcams video and audio may also be out of sync because the server is sending incorrect timestamps
FAQ on the Applian main site about using Fix FLV with live streams:

  1. Click Tools -> Fix FLV and select the file to be fixed.
Or, if the file is still in Replay Media Catcher's main list, right-click on it and select Fix FLV.
  2. Expand the File Contents section

  3. Set timestamp to 15 and click "Fix Time".
If the resulting file is still fast or slow then the time stamp can be adjusted further. But, 15 usually does the trick. Be sure to click the Fix Time button, or your changes will not be applied.

i know Replay Media Catcher for 1 year but only knew/saw the "Fix Duration"-button. Today is the first time that i see the "Fix Time"-button. For this to happen one needs to expand the tab "File Contents".

People with bad eyes dont see that there are 2 tabs.

One is called "Meta Data". And the second one (the other one) is called "File Contents". "Meta Data" tab offers a "Fix Duration"-button, whereas the "File Contents" tab offers a "Fix Time"-button.

Just put your glasses on.

I have overlooked this option at first. I know that many users had the same problem as we, and I'm glad that it will be changed very soon. You write a lot to Craig, so you probably know about it

Re: Fixing FLV files (live stream recordings) with Fix FLV tool of Replay Media Catch

After some testing I have found between numbers 30-37 gives very good results for MyFreeCams, esp if you know how to read the numbers in the columns - Tools/Fix FLV/File contents. The numbers are secs of the record in format XXXX.XXXX.

So u if know the time length of yr record say 25.48 mins that equals 1548 secs. So change the fix flv number (try say 30) and after hitting ok and the number changes in the column check at the end. If number is less than 1548.XXX, increase the fix FLV number, or if the column displays a number greater than 1548.XXX decrease until you can arrive as close as you can to 1548.XXX.

As Applian Fix FLV does not allow fractions or decimals it will always be out by a small margin but this does effect the file.

Trust this extra info helps.

Re: Fixing FLV files (live stream recordings) with Fix FLV tool of Replay Media Catch

i am placebo.
personally, i dont fix FLV's.

so here is what i do (if you're interested in placebo's experience and wisdom ):
  1. open the original FLV with Jaksta (RMC 4) Fix FLV module.
  2. note down on a piece of paper the so-called "videoframerate", as given by Jaksta. it is the most truthful number you can get. dont believe the numbers given by MediaInfo or by FLVExtract (the latter gives 2 numbers).
  3. Extract the FLV contents (often: *.264, *.aac) with FLVExtract. It's a lossless extraction process.
  4. Use Yamb to recombine the raw audio and raw video. If you are asked to enter a frame rate (the yamb default is: 25.0000), enter the number which you had written down on the piece of paper. For this you must find the piece of paper first!
  5. The end result is a perfect(!) losslessly created MP4 file.

This whole procedure is fast because it doesnt involve encoding or reencoding.

DONT FIX FLV FILES EVEN IF IT IS POSSIBLE.
AND DONT CONVERT FLV TO MP4 LOSSLESSLY EVEN IF IT IS POSSIBLE. If you have a 1400MB-sized HD FLV-file (e.g. from Amazon Instant Video, HD) and try both paths (flvextract&yamb vs. lossless conversion), then you'll know )
