Hi,

Does anyone know a good service i can use to share my videos with friends and family? Preferably one that can be streamed as opposed to downloaded. Thanks in advance!

Mydeo might be a good choice

I haven't used Mydeo, but there are several reasons to use it:

1. Mydeo has integrated its service into the popular home video editing package Windows Movie Maker 2 to allow users to upload their videos directly from its familiar interface. So you may use it on any PC with Windows XP SP2.
(I don't really like Windows Movie Maker, but I do think that it is a big advantage to be able to use the service on a huge amount of PCs)

2. Mydeo uses the Akamai Network for global storage and delivery together with secure streaming to guarantee security for Mydeo users’ content. This means that the humble home video maker can enjoy the quality and reliability of a world-leading streaming network, something they would never have been able to purchase as an individual.

Free VideoLan software (Windows/Unix/Mac) to broadcast media streams

VideoLan can be used to broadcast media streams (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (DivX, XVid,...) files, DVDs,...) in unicast or multicast mode.

p.s. It is not a hosting service, it is a software, but it can be used instead of the hosting services sometimes.

Free video hosting service

YouTube is a free video hosting service. It allows you to easily share your videos with family, friends, or co-workers. You may also instantly find and watch 1000's of fast streaming videos at YouTube.

By using YouTube you can save your own server space and a lot of bandwidth if many people are watching your videos. And because YouTube is very popular, your videos can be seen by thousands of people.

Before uploading videos to YouTube, you need to create a user account. You can also publish other peoples' videos on your website or blog.

To publish your video or any other video from YouTube to a blog or a web-site, you simply need to copy the HTML code for the embeddable player from the "Video Details -> Share Details"section below the video and paste the code directly into the HTML code of your web-page (in case of a blog post, just paste the code into the post form).
