Problem connecting xbox360 to Blackmagic Intensity Pro: No picture preview

Switched from Hauppage HDPVR to Blackmagic Need Help Plz

This is what I am trying to accomplish here, I want to capture on my computer monitor and play on my tv what do I need I was up all night and found that my tv was acting like my monitor. I have hdmi out to in on blackmagic then out from blackmagic to tv. In media express I do not get a picture but I can capture and playback on my tv. What do I need to split this connection and be able to play on my tv and capture on my computer only? If I bought a hdmi splitter and ran it out of my xbox and sent one hdmi to my tv and one to the blackmagic, then out from the blackmagic card to my computer monitor via hdmi to dvi cable? Would this be how I need to set this up?

Thanks for your help

Re: Problem connecting xbox360 to Blackmagic Intensity Pro: No picture preview

I guess you're asking about Blackmagic Intensity Pro after switching from Hauppage HD PVR.

Basically both HD PVR and Intensity Pro can record 720p or 1080i video only, they both do NOT support 1080p. While Intensity Pro allows to connect your xbox not only via component video, but also via HDMI, you may not notice any difference compared to recording from component video with HD PVR.

If you don't see any picture in Media Express or VirtualDub, make sure that Intensity Pro drivers are installed. Also make sure 720p is used on your xbox, since Intensity Pro doesn't support 1080p videos.

Intensity Pro has a video path through, so you should be able to connect your HDMI output of xbox with the HDMI intput of Intensity Pro, and then connect the HDMI output of your Intensity Pro with the HDMI input of your TV. The only problem with this type of connection is that the preview windows of Media Express doesn't show any picture, although there is no problem recording your gameplay. I don't really know whether this is a bug or feature. But I can tell you for sure that Intensity Pro doesn't use HDCP when outputting your gameplays.

To solve the problem with video preview in Media Express, you can use an HDMI splitter. Connect your xbox with an HDMI splitter and connect your splitter with your TV and your Intensity card.

Re: Problem connecting xbox360 to Blackmagic Intensity Pro: No picture preview

here is my setup

xbox -> splitter -> 1 hdmi going to the input on my tv the other coming out of the splitter going to the input on blackmagic. I have a nvidia geforce 9800gt video card because I have a dual monitor setup. Do I need a hdmi to dvi cable coming out of the blackmagic to my computer monitor (I have tried this and it failed)? Or Do I send the output from my xbox the the computer then use the splitter on the out of the blackmagic card? Im really lost and need some help.

If someone has time to give me a call on the phone It would be easier for me to explain what I am trying to accomplish here. If you can send me a private message with your phone number please.
I've been working on this for 4 days now.

Thanks for your time.

I don't really understand what you are trying to accomplish.

Note that graphics cards may have DVI-I and DVI-D inputs. I believe that there are HDMI to DVI-D cables only (that output digital signal only). Not sure what kind of DVI input your graphics card has.

Re: Problem connecting xbox360 to Blackmagic Intensity Pro: No picture preview

Ok so I managed to get my blackmagic to show up in premiere to capture however I am wanting to live stream now in adobe flash media live encoder 3. The problem now I am having is
under the device settings I try and change it to HD 720p 59.94 - 8 bit 4:2:2 YUV and I click ok and it doesn't work the setting returns to NTSC - 8 bit 4:2:2 YUV so therefore I am not getting a picture in this program now I have tried adobe flash media live encoder 3.0 andadobe flash media live encoder 3.1

Thanks again
