Need Media Player That Will Play Large FLV files

I have downloaded a number of very large FLV files from some on demand RTMP video stream websites. They range from 440MB all the way up to 1.21GB. I am having great trouble trying to locate a media player that is capable of playing the clips without the following the problems happening:

1) During playback, the video freezes up while the audio continues. Then the video will play for another 10 seconds, then the video will freeze up again. In other words, the playback hiccups. I can't get a consistent "stream" of video playback from the saved FLV file.

2) The forward/rewind buttons on the media player will not move forward or rewind through the clip without a significant delay. In other words, if I move from the 12:22 mark to the 55:57 mark, the timer will move forward, but it might take 10-12 seconds for the video to start playing. With some of the media players, they won't forward/rewind thru the clip at all.

3) Because of problems 1 and 2, any A-B repeat feature in the media player tends to be unreliable.

Over the past week, I must have downloaded 10 different media players which are supposedly capable of playing FLV files, and none of them have worked. Some of the players have been freeware, and some, like Zoom Player, I have paid for (and yes, I have tried posting to their support forum - none of their advice is working, or I don't understand the advice they are giving because they are advanced users). Among the media players I have tried to use:

Zoom Player
FLV Player (Applian technologies)
VLC Player
Riva FLV Player

I have no idea if there is another player out there that can play my files.

Or maybe I am better off converting these large FLV files to some other format so that they will play better on one of the media players I have? However, if I do convert, I do not wish to degrade the video quality in anyway, shape or form. The video quality of these saved FLV files is quite good. A suggested freeware converter would be helpful if you feel this is the best option.

Any suggestions?

Please note these are .flv files - not .asf. Thanks for your time.

What software did you use to download FLV files that you can't play with FLV Players properly?

Have you tried to repair FLV files by remuxing them with freeware FLV Extract and mp4box?

I used CooJah + Blader to download the files.

I will try the FLV Extract/Mp4box solution this evening. I haven't tried that yet.

Other RTMP Flash stream recorders may work much better and may not need the files to be repaired.

Re: Need Media Player That Will Play Large FLV files

I tried some of those other stream recorders (like Orbit Downloader), and they weren't able to download from the website I was interested in downloading from.

I have downloaded a number of these large FLV clips that I own from rapidshare and hotfile, and I am certain the people who uploaded those files have used a variety of stream recorders. All of the FLV clips have problems playing back. I have to wonder if the immense size of the clips might be causing the problem, or perhaps my PC. My PC is not that old, but it's hardly a supercomputer.
