Remove DRM from music files with WMP protection ripped from Audio CDsFirst off, hi to everyone here, my name's Shaun and I'm from Texas.
I ripped a lot of CDs on to my computer. Once the CD was ripped, I saw little use for the disc itself and I would often loan them out and forget to get them back, lose them, misplace them, etc. The problem was, I apparently ripped a lot of them with the WMP protection on it. A few months ago, I had to reformat my hard drive. I backed up all the music, and the folder titled "License Backup" and cleared everything else. I now have 3/4 of my favorite music and no access to any of it. I don't know what to do, I've tried many things but most of them require you to be able to play the file in order to make another unprotected copy of it. This has all come to a point now that my old Creative jukebox is dying, and I bought a new iPod. I can't put any music on it, and it's depressing. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance, Shaun |

Re: Remove DRM from music files with WMP protection ripped from Audio CDsYou can BACK-UP your licences using Windows Media Player, but you will need to be connected to the internet to reload it after you reformat.
I have never backed up my licenses, but I was able to get them after transferring DRM-protected CD-ripped .WMA files to my new PC. I just needed Windows Media Player to get my licenses from the INTERNET (Note that MS allows you to RESTORE licenses 9-10 times max!) Before removing DRM protection you will have to get VALID LICENSES so that you can play files.
