Yesterday I just bought an audiobook from online store, it was in wma format with a DRM. Problem, i have vista and fully updated media player 11 11.0.6 so i have no way to put this on my ipod as inteded... any ideas? the files are HUGE and there is no way to put them on a CD its 48 hours worth of book...

i know no way to roll back version of media player in vista or i would do that for the fair use program.

Re: Help to remove DRM on Windows Vista

FairUse4WM doesn't work on Windows Vista so you don't need to roll back your WMP. Besides I suppose you can't roll-back WMP on Vista 'coz it comes with WMP 11 final.

You may install Windows XP onto virtual machine (either VMWare or Microsoft Virtual PC). Then re-download media files from an online store onto your Windows XP. Remeber that WMP on your Windows XP shouldn't have version higher than 11.0.5705.5043. And never upgrade your WMP!

On your Windows XP remove DRM protection with FairUse4WM and transfer DRM free files to your Windows Vista.

You may also use other DRM removal software. Soundtaxi and Tunebite work on Windows Vista x32 (haven't seen any DRM removal software that supports x64).

Re: Help to remove DRM on Windows Vista

I already paid $50 for the audio book, i was hoping to avoid having to pay anthor 15 for sound taxi which seems like my only option at the moment.

If you don't wanna pay any money, then you may install Windows XP as suggested or use direct sound recording software like Audacity to record from your sound card.

fu4m13fix2 has been realesed. It supports Windows Media Player version up to 11.0.6000.6324 and works with Windows XP, Vista x32/x64.

Re: How to install Windows Media Player (WMP) 10 on Windows Vista 32/64-bit

fu4m 1.3 fix-2 doesn't work with the latest IBX, so you can downgrade Windows Media Player or use the latest version of drmdbg that works with IBX 11.0.6000.7000 and on Windows Vista.

drmbdg is a console apllication, so it is not as pretty as FairUse4WM. Besides after running drmdbg you need to use drm2wmv or freeme2.
