Record screen without getting detected i.e. blocked and blacklistedHey guys! First post here!
tldr: I want to record my laptop screen while I stream a video that I have paid for. Can they detect me recording the screen? LEGALITY: I know this could be deemed unethical but I will NOT be selling or distributing these videos. I just want a copy for myself. Also, recent laws about time-shifting media mean this is NOT illegal. To those screaming piracy - if these were movies one could easily wait for someone to torrent it. These are education lectures I have purchased and can stream. THE SITUATION: My subscription allows me to stream unlimited videos. These are educational videos so NO netflix, movies etc. I will be watching these tutorials again and again. I just want a copy for myself that I can actually use the content I've paid for! The subscription is damn expensive and I have to watch the videos a number of times. I could probably go through everything once in 8 weeks and get myself a copy of all the stuff. If I keep subscribing till I'm done with them (repeat viewings) I'd probably end up subscribing for 6-8 months and I don't want to do that. Often I want to watch/get time to watch the videos when I have no internet i.e. on my commute etc. I want to 'make a copy' of the videos so can have them on my tablet/phone BUT the company provides no links and also says any attempts to download material and you get blocked. I don't want to get blocked. MY PLAN OF ACTION: Very likely any attempt made to intercept the stream and record it directly can be detected. Not going to do this. Also, don't know how to. So I'm thinking I will play the video and record my desktop i.e. a recording of whatever is happening on my screen = the video I have done this in the past and the quality if good enough for my purpose. This is time-consuming, but it does give me a copy of the video in a decent useable quality = fit for my purpose. MY QUESTION: CAN THE COMPANY DETECT me recording MY screen? If they can I get blocked and blacklisted. This is not some huge company like netflix etc. but definitely not some mom-and-pop operation either. But definitely they have a high-standard of technology. If there is indeed some way/technology for them to detect me recording my desktop - how expensive is it i.e. how likely is the technology to be used to catch people doing this? If this is not feasible - what else can I do? If all else fails, I could just connect my laptop to the big screen and record it with a camera. Not very keen on that. Too much effort + the flicker etc. Thanks! |
