Problem with current recording setup

Hi everyone,

In my workspace, I have several computers and cameras setup that I use regularly to record video. I'm having the absolute hardest time trying to add another computer to my setup and could use some advice (I've tried several things and apparently need some help, which is why I'm on the message boards).

Okay, so I have one computer that I designate my Video Recording Computer. I use VirtualDub ( http://www.virtualdub.org ) and its Capture AVI mode to record video. Within that mode, the device that I use is a StarTech SVID2USB ( http://www.startech.com/AV/Converter...le~SVID2USB2NS ) as my video feed. Plugged into that device's video is a Grand Magic Guard III ( http://www.grand.com.tw/sur_magic_guard_III.php?menu=1 ) that takes in 2 composite signals. 1 of the composite signals comes from one of four video cameras controlled by a Sima A/V Component Selector ( http://www.simaproducts.com/products...?product_id=37 ) while the other composite signal is one of 2 desktop computers also controlled by a Sima A/V Component Selector. Both of those computers use VGA cables into Averkey iMicro Converters, where I run a composite cable into the 2nd Sima A/V Component Selector. I use those 2 composite signals to create a PIP using one of the Grand Magic Guard III's features. Whew, what a winded setup.

Anyway, I have a 3rd computer that uses a DVI cable that I want to add to my recording setup. I suspect that the reason its giving me so much trouble is because all of the other signals I am using are analog signals while this is the lone digital signal. I have tried using several methods to try and convert the DVI to a VGA signal, such as into another Averkey iMicro converter with no success. I even tried picking up an Apple DVI-to-Video converter ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000ACOBL/ ) without success as well.

Any suggestions on what I can do? I'm looking for either a way to successfully convert that DVI signal to a VGA that I can actually record or a free software like VirtualDub where I can do PIP recording using 2 feeds (I have access to VGA and DVI capture cards).
