Okey guys out there, I need some better instructions for how to get rid of windows media player on this vista laptop. I had it on auto update, didn't realize it would screw me. I hadn't turned autoupdate off until this week. does anyone know what things i will now have to do to get some old ibx codes? i have a couple things already that might help me, but i don't know the order to use them in.
I already have a downgrade fix, but it's pretty dumb. it says to just copy the wmp old version into the programs folder, but even if you had xp, didn't he know, there's a backup copy of wmp in the system folder
?
anyways, I have the very latest
fairuse4wm, and additionally am willing to test out stuff on this fully updated vista laptop as i can easily back up and reinstall, so take your shots at fully locked down vista
.
Or, maybe i'm just dumb. if someone has good directions already, just give me a link. that would work too. anyways, the things that i can't do on this laptop are: set up a virtual xp all because of the ram constraints vista has (practically 80% utilization i'm afraid
) and i don't particularly want to use a wmp 10 hack, those are gay, WMP 11 is too super useful, and besides, a good run through would let the nubs out there know that it ain't hard
.
