Help With Reconnecting To Streams

I use a program called Total Recorder to record audio streams from various programs and online streams. The problem is with the programs I use to connect to those streams. The stream sometimes disconnects and the programs have limited ability to reconnect to the stream. I've used Real Player and Winamp. When they disconnect they won't try long for a reconnect. Some streaming programs go down for a minute or more and there is the problem I'm looking for a player that will play .pls or .m3u streams and have the ability to set how many times it tries to connect. Is there any player out there that does this?
