Recorded stream won't play in VLC and Windows Media Player

Hi! Ive recorded a concert with both Hi-Q and Freerecorder, and it won't play. I listened to the concert as I recorded on the computer speakers, but when I click on the downloaded file, Windows Media player comes up and the progress monitor (the slider showing the seconds playing at the bottom) moves, but there's no sound. I've also tried playing it with VLC, but the results are the same. Now I've used Hi-Q before, not for a while now, and never used freerecorder before, and I had no problem hearing the file. I've even burned a copy before. What's wrong? When Iuse VLC, the properties of the file say it's a VLC MP3 file, and when I remove VLC the file is listed as Windows Media.
