Run the following in the terminal:

Code:

sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-plugin

Then choose the default Java to use:

See the alternatives

Code:

sudo update-java-alternatives -l

Choose Java 6 from Sun

Code:

sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun

Check Java version

Code:

java -version
