How to use proxy servers for content restricted geographically (e.g. BBC in UK)?

The BBC restricts access to some of its content to users inside the UK.

For example if I try to open _http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/animals/planetearth/hd/

I get this message :
"Non-UK users
Unfortunately you are unable to access this content. This is offered only to audiences in the UK.
In the UK but not able to access the content?
We are aware that some UK users trying to access the UK-only Planet Earth pages are not getting access. If this applies to you, or if you would like more explanation about this, please go to the FAQ section on the BBC Broadband site."

I think I need to use a UK based proxy to get around this. Can anyone explain how, what and where I do that? Would a http proxy suffice or would I need a socks proxy?

thanks
