Alright. So here's what I want to do. Simply download a few napster DRM-ed songs and take off the DRM. Simple. I want to use a lossless converter, so first I tried
FairUse4WM (FU4WM).
I followed the instructions and did it all correct (at one point the runtime would not uninstall but that's cuz I tried Zune before napster and it prevented it, so I just deleted all the registry keys that had to do with zune -_-), and then when I had to download the napster plugin for WM10, it installed but when I went to the service in WMP it showed the same "Get napster plugin!" screen as before and when I clicked on the active-x bar to press run add-on, it just refreshed the page and showed the bar again.
So failing my first option, I browsed these forums and found out about this mysterious
freeme2 +
drmdbg thing that looks like it can remove DRM even with a IBX version higher than 1.6000.whatever, so I was like cool and downloaded the "drm removal kit" or whatever. With my DRM stuff still all gone from the computer, I downloaded the napster program knowing the worst it would do is update the IBX which won't matter with freeme2, right? I wanted to download a DRM-ed song so I could test it with drmdbg (which btw I'm still not totally sure how to use), and it told me to reset my DRM licenses obviously since there was nothing on there.
It made me dl a program called DRM reset and it worked fine, but when I went back into napster it said the same damn thing again! And after trying the reset again it still didn't work. This sucks! I also looked in the new DRM folder it created and apparently the indiv300 file has a version of 1.57252929 blah blah blah. Anyway it's not 1.6000 anymore, which is weird.
I guess what I'm asking is, where did I fuck up? And either is there a way to fix it, OR now since I've got my IBX at a low version, should I do something with fairuse4wm now? Thanks so much, I spent like 4 hours trying to figure this whole frigging DRM removal thing out...
