Netxfer managed to download two simple real audio/ video streams (
link1 and
link2) where Replay Media Catcher v4.4.3.0 'choked' on the downloads, i.e. alerted errors like these and and terminated downloading after a few percent:
Code:
RTSP error: Bad Request
OR
RTSP error: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.
OR
Invalid RDT data: xx AND RTSP error: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
while WM Recorder v.14.12.3 could not even start the download.
It is to be noted that Netxfer downloaded files at the maximum (the server maximum allowed, probably) speed, the ReplayMC downloaded just slightly quicker than the real-time playback of the media in question. It is also noticeable that Netxfer managed to retain the original modified date of the file hosted on the server (there is a special option for that in the settings).
Now it's quite remarkable that a lesser known program like Net Transport manages to surpass the popular brands, while costing around half the price. I only tried it on real and windows media files over the rtsp protocol, still one has to say that NetTransport delivers there, where the popular software with a higher rating {8 to 7 on this
table} prove themselves as nothing but disappointment and failure.
