Question

Removing DRM from mp4 with no loss(Removing copy-protection from iTunes m4v TV Shows)

I recently downloaded some TV shows from itunes, that came in m4v format. I want to be able to burn them to a DVD but I think the DRM protection on them is preventing me. I have tried to find some programs to do this but none seem to work.

I have a fairly exstensive background in programming and am about to just code my own program to do the work if I cant find a suitable program.

My questions are:
a) does anyone know of a program that will convert the DRM protected mp4 format to a DVD ready format with no loss?

and

b) does anyone know of any good resources for the specs on different file formats so I can just start coding my own program for this application? THNX

DRM-protected files are usually encrypted. Removing DRM is not just a question of learning about some proprietary format.

Another problem is that you can convert MPEG-2 video to DVD losslessly, but you can't convert MPEG-4 or MPEG-4 AVC (h.264) videos to DVD losslessly.

Thanks, I figured their would be some encryption on it but I would imagine it wouldn't be impossible to crack if the DRM can be removed from other windows formatted movies. The thing about encryption is it is never impossible to break. The goal is to make it so hard and time consuming it just isn't worth it to try. I just have some time on my hands and would really enjoy the challenge in trying to figure out this inconvenience. I have come across the ISO website that says you can purchase the standard. I'm not sure as an individual I can or the cost associated with it but I plan on looking into it further. Thanks for the help and any other info or expertise you can give would be greatly appreciated.

It could be pretty hard to break. Some DRM removal tools just capture packets of data unencrypted by a media player. Then the packets are joined into a playable file. It must be the easiest way.
