Looking for ActiveX, DLL, opensource software supporting rtsp:// .ASF recording

hi
i am a VC++6 programmer and i would like to record a RTSP stream into ASF format in one of my projects. RTPS video Stream server is a win 2003 server (Windows Media Services).

does anybody know an opensource rtsp recorder that saves in AFS format?

thanks

Re: Looking for an opensource ASF recorder supporting RTSP protocol

ASF Recorder is an open souce Windows Media recorder. It supports mms and http ASF streams only.

You can try VLC Player and MPlayer. Both are open source players that can dump streams. The only problem is that they were not very good at playing/recording RTSP Windows Media streams.

Unfortunately I don't know any other Open Source Windows Media recorders I can suggest.

p.s.
You can try to use mms:// or http:// instead of rtsp://

Re: Looking for an opensource ASF recorder supporting RTSP protocol

thanks a lot. but i cannot change stream server (it is rtsp server), because it is not my server.i tried vlc and MPlayer but as the stream server is win 2003 server, only windows mediaplayer 9+ can connect to it. so i cannot use MPlayer or VLC source code
AFSRecorder is a very good opensource program but it does not support RTSP .
thanks again

I wasn't talking about server side. You can change rtsp:// to mms:// or http:// on a client side. In some cases it works.

I didn't say that ASF Recorder supported RTSP.

Also instead of the source code you may use Offline Explorer Enterprise.

If Offline Explorer Enterprise is too expensive for you,

and you can't find any alternative with google,

then IMHO the best way to find software or components (like ActiveX and DLL) is
by contacting the developers of streaming media recorders supporting rtsp:// .ASF video streams.

You can also create a project at a freelance marketplace and find a skilled programmer that can develop a custom ActiveX, DLL,... supporting rtsp:// .asf recording.
