EPUB (short for electronic publication; alternatively capitalized as ePub, ePUB, EPub, or epub, with "EPUB" preferred by the vendor) is a free and open e-book standard by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). Files have the extension .epub.
EPUB is designed for reflowable content, meaning that the text display can be optimized for the particular display device used by the reader of the EPUB-formatted book. The format is meant to function as a single format that publishers and conversion houses can use in-house, as well as for distribution and sale.
How to transfer ePub ebook file onto Apple iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch- Download an .ePub ebook file onto your computer.
- Open iTunes and select "File" -> "Add to Library…" from the drop-down menu (Or just drag-n-drop your ePub files onto iTunes).
- Select the .epub file that you want to transfer to your iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch. Click Choose and the ePub eBook file will be added to your Book Library in iTunes
- Sync your iPad with iTunes and the ePub book will show up in iBooks.
Note that if your ePub ebooks is DRM protected, you need to
remove DRM protection before adding your ebook to iTunes.
