Flashget question: scheduling audio stream recordingI know I know... not the most popular app I have learned. My needs are remarkably simple as I just need to dnld audio files daily and I'd like to be able to do it on a scheduler. I've mucked around with it and it has a scheduler built in it, but for the life of me I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Anyone know how to schedule an event, or 'job' as they call it, in flashget?

Flashget and other download managers as streaming audio recorders: schedulingUnlike download managers like Mass Downloader, HiDownload, NetTransport, FlashGet has no powerful scheduling features.
It can be used if you say have cheap Internet access at night and wanna make major downloads at night hours. To schedule downloads with FlashGet: 1. Click "Tools"->"Options" 2. Click "Schedule/Event" from the left list. 3. Change scheduling options. After that you may use these sheduling options for some of your downloads. To do that create a new download and: 1. Click "Advanced button" 2. Select "Schedule" from the "Start" list. What kind of audio streams do you record? There might be better stream recording software that can do the job for you. |

Re: Flashget and other download managers as streaming audio recorders: schedulingThank you for your reply. I did finally muck through figuring out the hang up. Turns out FlashGet kept a log of a downloaded file, so when I went to retest it, even tho I deleted it via hte Flashget menu, and physically deleted the file, it determined it had already been dnld'd and it wouldn't invoke a dnld when I was testing it back to back. So I figured that part out.
What Flashget doesn't do is provide for multiple schedules. It is one size fits all. My current needs are so miniscule, I am getting by with how it works. I manually pull down an MP3, and am able to schedule a single MP3 stream live, and it saves. Those were the two things. But, if I were looking to slurp down MP3, Real and WM static files as well as live streams, what would you recommend? tx a mil Quote:

Re: Flashget and other download managers as streaming audio recorders: schedulingFreeware download managers and stream recorders
I recommend freeware FlashGet, Free Download Manager, Download Master for static files. I suggest to record Windows Media streams with GetASFStream and SDPReceiver, record Real Audio/Real Video streams with StreamboxVCR Suite 2, and record Shoutcast MP3 radio stations with StreamRipper. My favorite stream recorders My favorite stream recorders can be found on the following web-page: Popular/Recommended stream recorders. |

Re: Flashget and other download managers as streaming audio recorders: schedulingWow. Thank you for this terrific, informative response. I will drill down into studying your recommendations. FlashGet is just about handling things now, but this will only stimulate a desire to become more flexible, which means the apps you have recommended below.
tx a mil for this. Hopefully others will glean from this as well. Quote:
